Presidential Conversation

Saturday, October 19, 2024 | 10:00 am - 11:15 am

Sadler Center, Commonwealth Auditorium

Join President Katherine A. Rowe for a conversation with Oscar winner Cord Jefferson ’04. His directorial debut, the film “American Fiction,” won Best Adapted Screenplay earlier this year, and he previously won an Emmy for his writing on the show “Watchmen.” Jefferson will discuss his journey from William & Mary to the entertainment industry and what he learned about resilience and charting his own course. As the university continues its celebration of the Year of the Arts, Jefferson and Rowe will explore how entrepreneurial thinking — including creativity and openness to risk — can play a key role in arts careers.

Theatre doors will open at 9:30 a.m. Registered guests must take their seats by 9:45 a.m. After this time, any remaining seats will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
